Benkei (ベンケイ Benkei?) is a character in Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon.
Background
Benkei is the guard of the bridge in Zazen leading to the door to Yamato. He guards the bridge firmly and doesn't let anyone pass unless the person gives him something valuable. Everyone who tried to challenge him in a duel in order to pass ended up in failure, well everyone except Ushiwaka, who beat him in the past with the use of the Achilles' Heel.
Story
Ushiwaka handed over the Achilles' Heel to Goemon after he helped him collect the fishes. Benkei challenged Goemon to a duel. Goemon used the Achilles' Heel he previously acquired to defeat him. After Benkei lost the duel, he asked that Goemon keep the defeat a secret, in exchange of letting him pass the bridge and he also gifted Goemon with the robot Sasuke.
