~ Passport description from Pixel Puzzle Collection |
The Pass (known by a variety of names depending on the game) is a recurring special item that has appeared in several installments of the Ganbare Goemon series. Obtaining it is the key to entering otherwise restricted areas.
Description[]
A Pass in the Ganbare Goemon games is typically depicted as a wooden tablet with a string tied on the top and bearing an official inscription. Finding it is often the main objective of one of the many missions in the game and it is usually obtained after defeating an area boss and/or meeting an important figure of authority. Once acquired, it must be brought to a guard somewhere in order to gain entry to a previously restricted area.
In the earlier titles (starting with Karakuri Dōchū and the two "Gaiden" games), finding three passes was often the main objective in each level in order to gain entry to the next. These could be found in boxes, secret passages, or even bought at stores.
Appearances[]
Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shōgun Magginesu[]
In this game, the Pass has a different use than it normally does. Instead of providing access to a new area of the game, it allows the player to exit a stage they have already cleared by pressing the SELECT button.
