Ganbare Goemon (がんばれゴエモン?) is a Ganbare Goemon medal game released for arcades in Japan in 1997. It was developed and published by Konami.

Gameplay[]

The object of the game is to take control of the chivalrous thief and ninja hero, Goemon, to defeat enemies by throwing a koban coin at them. These enemies are none other than the Four Tsujikiri: Itakaro, Rokudenashi, Hatarino and Nyanko, who have invaded a castle.

The layout of the game has each of the Four Tsujikiri standing on one of the various castle roofs, each at a different height. The player inserts tokens in the arcade cabinet to power up Goemon's koban. Goemon starts the round at ground level, where he makes use of a trampoline to perform a big leap upward. When Goemon is at the same height as one of his enemies, the player has to press the button to throw the koban and hopefully hit the target, being awarded more tokens if successful.

In addition to the Tsujikiri, other well known characters in the Ganbare Goemon franchise can be found on the roofs, such as Ebisumaru, Yae, Sasuke and Monoshiri, as well as some recurring items, such as the Kiseru, Scrolls and Onigiri. These characters and items also earn the player bonus tokens if hit.
