Goemon: Shin Sedai Shūmei! (ゴエモン 新世代襲名!?) is an action-adventure platformer video game released for the PlayStation on December 20, 2001 in Japan. It is a spin-off of the original Ganbare Goemon series.
In February 2002, a conversion of this game was released for the Game Boy Advance titled Goemon: New Age Shutsudō!, with various modifications and cuts made from the original PlayStation version.
Neither version was released outside of Japan.
Plot[]
In an undisclosed near-distant future, Goemon finally returns to Japan after having traveled the world to study abroad, but ultimately failing. However, he encountered the city of Edo in ruins. Rumors about a horde of demons that one day came out of nowhere and raided the city were told on the streets; and what's worse, apparently they also kidnapped the general.
Commanded by the head of Edo's premier security organization, Gokumi, Goemon goes on a journey with his longtime friend, Ebisu, to find the root of this attack and also to rescue the general.
Characters[]
- Goemon: The main protagonist and titular character of this spin-off series.
- Ebisu: She's the best friend of the Goemon from the future. She wields the same weapons as Ebisumaru and is possibly his daughter.
- Sasuke (Mark 2): A clockwork robot ninja. He wields the same weapons as Sasuke.
- Yui: An equivalent of Yae, and as such, wields the same weapons.
- Hanzō: The boss of the first stage: Haikyo.
- Kojirō: The boss of the second stage: Yami.
- Benkei: The boss of the third stage: Chugi.
- Musashi: The boss of the fifth stage: Oni, before the main boss: Yoshitsune's Black Impact.
- Yoshitsune: One of the main antagonists. He is first encountered as the boss of the fourth stage: Mato, and later as the boss of the fifth stage: Oni, this time while piloting Black Impact.
- Kiyohime: One of the main antagonists and final boss of the game.
