Kasa-obake is an enemy in The Legend of the Mystical Ninja. It is a yōkai in the form of a monstrous old umbrella that chases the player around.

Description[]

A type of yōkai that takes the form of an old umbrella with one eye and one leg that chases the living. Kasa-obake are encountered midway through the action section of Warlock Zone I: Mystical Ghost, and only appear in a relatively small area. They usually appear in groups by descending from the sky and homing toward the player; and once they land, they start chasing them by hopping on their only leg. While their encounter is brief, they can become unexpectedly troublesome due to their characteristic way of attacking, because if the player moves back and forth trying to evade them as they descend, they may inadvertently make more of them to appear and suddenly be overwhelmed by their numbers.

Nevertheless, a simple –yet efficient– way of dealing with them is to simply ignore them altogether and run past them as they are descending, as that will let the player avoid their homing pattern and also quickly exit the small area where they appear in.
