At any time, or any place you play that flute, I will arrive by your side in Dragon form!
~ Koryuta

Koryuta (子竜太 Koryūta?) is a recurring character in the Ganbare Goemon series. He is a human/dragon hybrid who has the ability to transform into a flying dragon.

Background[]

Koryuta first appeared in Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2: Tenka no Zaihō, where he is a playable character and joins Goemon and Ebisumaru in their quest. He later reappeared in Kiteretsu Shōgun Magginesu, where he makes a cameo inside one of the many town houses the player can visit. His next major appearance was in Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, in which he could transform into a flying dragon and take the party to previously visited areas. His last appearance was in Mononoke Dōchū Tobidase Nabe-Bugyō! for the Game Boy Color.

History[]

In Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, Koryuta is found working for the Oedo Tourist Center, where he lends his services by carrying customers all over Japan while in dragon form. However, when Goemon and his friends arrive to the tourist center agency, the attendant informs them that their dragon has been behaving strangely lately and asks them for help.

The team makes their way to the dragon's head while it is soaring through the skies and there they find a mind-control device which is being remotely operated by Colon. They manage to destroy it, and as a result, they end up falling all the way to the ground below, although fortunately unscathed. A long-haired kid all dressed in blue soon crashes near them and identifies himself as being the same dragon they were just riding on.

Goemon and the rest explain him he had been controlled by the Peach Mountain Shoguns and that they were using him to kidnap kids with dancing abilities all over Japan. Deeply ashamed for taking part on such a foul scheme, he lends Yae his flute, telling them that whenever they play it, he would come in dragon form and transport them wherever they want.

Appearance and personality[]

Koryuta wears a blue traditional Japanese children's attire and wristbands, although perhaps his most characteristic feature is his long, messy, blue hair which covers half of his face.

In Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2, he acts more like a brat –although one with a noble heart– who joins Goemon and his friends on their quest. In Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, he appears to behave more childish and innocent, and shows himself deeply concerned for knowing he took part on the kidnappings that were being carried all over Japan; so much that he promises to come to their aid and take them wherever they want whenever they require to.
